People can surprise you...

Just when I thought none of my friends gave a damn, a few of them hopped right up and proved me wrong. Hillary invited Violet and me over for a BBQ chicken and mac 'n' cheese dinner tonight (which kicked ASS... Hillary is an awesome cook, a true Southern Belle). We talked, we laughed, we ATE. I made fun of Violet because she's overdramatic and had a fight with her boyfriend because she took Oprah's advice a little too seriously ("Oprah ruined my life!"). I finally got the chance to come out to Violet (all her roommates already know, but she wasn't there when I told them), and she took it really well. Surprisingly well, considering her tendency toward dramatic flair. I only wish her roommate (Beth) was handling it so well.

ANYWAY, I retreated back to my apartment after dinner to do some reading, which I had to print off the internet. No problem, right? Wrong. My printer died. Refuses to feed paper. Drove back to campus, found open computer lab, and printed stuff out there (for 5 cents a page, sonofabitch!). Returned to apartment, where Roomie and her friend were (and still are) studying in the living room for a zoology midterm. Slaved over dull books for a few hours until I received a life (well, at least sanity)-saving instant message from Lynn offering to shuttle me to Wawa for a late-night snack and caffeine-fix... and to keep me from going crazy and cutting off my own face. Yay for Lynn!

In other news, big brother N is coming to town tomorrow! He's got a couch and loveseat that there's no space for in his new place, so I'm keeping it at my place (and using it) for now... win/win situation. He and his friend/roommate/bandmate are renting a truck and driving the stuff up here from NC. They're also bringing N's old bed. I don't want the bed. But neither does he, so he is bringing it. I don't have room for it in my apartment. What the fuck am I gonna do with an extra-long twin bed!? Maybe I'll just leave it in the parking lot. In any case, it'll be good to see him, and he'll probably be crashing at my place for the night. I would take him out for drinks, but I have a midterm Tuesday, so probably not so much a good idea. Dammit. Ooh! And he might bring me some guitar strings, too! (He works in a Guitar Center.) Score!
