Nobody knows the wreck of a soul the way you do...

I love this place!

Despite some fleeting feelings of being a country-mouse in the big city, I'm starting to get used to DC... the ridiculous traffic, the maniacal bicyclists that come out of nowhere, the occasional beligerant homeless guy who tries to steal your shit (most of the transients I've encountered have actually been quite amiable), the fact that the same bus line runs in TWO directions so if you get on going the wrong way you'll be riding the bus for like an hour instead of 10 minutes not that that's ever happened to me or anything. I've even got my aloof-yet-slightly-annoyed-commuter-face down pat.

But no matter how long I stay here, I don't think I will ever get over my fascination with people. I like to watch them -- not in a creepy, stalkery, Hannibal Lectery way -- I just enjoy a bit of people watching from time to time. It reassures me that no matter how weird/crazy/ugly/pretentious/etc. I get, there will always be at least a few thousand people who are more weird/crazy/ugly/pretentious/etc. And sometimes you get the added bonus of watching people fall on their asses.

Today's highlight was the cute Asian girl crossing Connecticut Ave.(legally) who beat on and swore loudly at a car that had tried to run the red light and nearly hit her. She totally made my day.
