Everybody's getting married!
Violet: "I can't wait 'til I get married! Your wedding is like... the ultimate prom!"
Me: "Hmm... I didn't have a date to my prom."
Just got an email from a friend (Nikki, who happens to be engaged) about organizing another friend's (Angel's) bachelorette party. Having never even progressed beyond the "he is NOT my boyfriend - we're just dating!" stage of a relationship myself, I can't help but feel (however irrational the feeling may be) that I'm somehow lagging behind. Then again, I can't see myself getting married at all, much less at the age of 21... so there ya go. [And to add to the fun, if I happen to decide, God forbid, that I want to spend the rest of my life with a female, I can't legally marry her anyway. So whatever.] The weirdness of being the age my mother was when she married my father has long since worn off. Although I was significantly thrown off last week when I ran into an old friend from high school on campus (we both ended up attending the same college, though we never really see each other). We did a little catching up, and she mentioned that she was just returning from a year off after she HAD A BABY last spring. What the fuck?? I didn't even know she was pregnant! Although I did know she was married; that happened right after high school. Anyway, mad props to her for coming back to school AND working part-time... I don't know how she does it.
In any case, I think I'd be a-okay if I never got married, and especially if I never squeezed out any evil spawn. 'Cause you know they'd be evil. It's in the genes.
