Exotic?? She's not a fucking tucan!

People piss me off.

The other day, I was mingling with a few coworkers in the lunch room, trying to be social because I rarely see anyone but my 3 office-mates here in the basement. We were just making small talk when a coworker happened to mention that his girlfriend is Taiwanese-American. A few people asked how they met, whether he'd been to Taiwan, etc. And then The Moron spoke. "Oh, wow. I bet she's really beautiful... so exotic." The guy handled this racist outburst with grace (and what appeared to be a bit of discomfort), mumbling something about finding people beautiful for who they are.

I just stood there and stared at The Moron as the conversation moved on. I couldn't understand how an (ostensibly) educated 20-something could make such a comment. What an ass!

I don't know why these things still surprise me, but they do.
