sweet jeebus!
It's been a crazy couple of days! I drove the three hours from school to "home" Sunday afternoon/evening, blasting music to drown out Louie's mournful meowing from his cage in the backseat. Thankfully, he refrained from shitting this time. After I dropped the kitty off at my mom's place (Dad has forbidden any further felines in his home after an unfortunate cat pee incident with our last one), I came home, showered, unpacked, and settled in. I went downstairs and had a little chat with the 'rents (Dad and stepmom). I just couldn't contain myself any longer, and I came out to them. It was scary. And weird. But they took it pretty well, said they were glad I told them and that they love me no matter what. Then I had to explain bisexuality to them, which is hard enough when you're explaining it to someone who's NOT your parent. But they seemed to "get it" and be as okay with it as can be expected. Big checkmark next to awkward conversation #1.
Monday morning, I got my hairs cut. Short. I can't post pictures 'til I get back to my own computer at school, but I like the way it looks.
Cut to Monday evening -- I went for coffee with my mother and came out to her. She was very understanding and supportive, and, just as I expected, asked me not to tell my crazy Algerian stepfather (which I wasn't planning on doing anyway).
So now all that's left to do is come out to my sister and brother. I rarely see my big bro, so I'll tell him next time we get a chance to talk at any length. And I'll probably tell my little sister as soon as she's actually in the house long enough for me to say anything to her. I'm expecting an "eew, gross!" reaction from her. Whatever.
The new 'do has been misinterpreted, probably due to poor timing on my part, as being directly related to my recently announced gayitude. I have assured one and all that the haircut is simply that -- a haircut. I've wanted short hair for a long time now, but haven't had the guts to go for it, so I figured what the hell, why not? Plus if I'm feeling really punk, I have some mohawk glue back at school that I'm dying to mess with! (Don't worry, if I do it, I'll be sure to post pictures.) But I left out the mohawk part when I was talking to my dad. I don't think he'd appreciate the inherent coolness of that.
The remainder of my spring break shall entail a great deal of reading (I have SO much school work to do!) and job hunting. And being completely alone. Because all my friends are on actual vacations.
